Supporting Article: The tipping point between effective leadership of change and the role of project managers

We are getting excited to see more articles related to the role that project sponsorship plays in the delivering successful projects as we wrap up editing on Strategies for Project Sponsorship.

The first we want to highlight comes from The Girls Guide to Project Management Blog by Elizabeth Harrin. In The tipping point between effective leadership of change and the role of project managers, guest blogger John Roberts discusses the 10 areas that project managers need to excel at. These 10 competencies are geared at increasing our influence up the organization. The article states “findings from our recent survey revealed that 70% of sponsors have insufficient time to be appropriately involved and a staggering 75% have had no real training or coaching in how to be an effective sponsor or leader of change.”

This is a point we discuss heavily in Strategies for Project Sponsorship along with more tools and techniques to help fill the sponsor knowledge gap. In the meantime, please take a look at this article.
